Jimmy Samuel Barber

Jimmy Samuel Barber, 80, of Colbert, died on Tuesday, December 3, 2024.

Born in Athens, he was a son of the late Bevert Lacoy Barber and Louzelle Michaels Lassiter. Jimmy was a Veteran of the United States Army and retired from the Athens-Clarke County Fire Department after more than 33 years of employment. He was also an avid fisherman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Joyce Barber and his son-in-law, Eric Hewell.

Survivors include his children, Shane Barber (Kim) and Lisa Barber Hewell; siblings, Wayne Barber, Beverly Patterson, Rebecca Barber and Annie Sue Coker; grandchildren, Courtney Ray, Hunter Barber, Brian Savage (Clair) and Emilie Bedgood; great-grandchild, Cason Dorsey and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Friday, December 6, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Lord and Stephens, East. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 5, 2024 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
