Jewell Sexton

Hartwell, formerly of Athens - Jewell Hardy Sexton, 81, of Hartwell, formerly of Athens, died August 2, 2009, at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Born in Athens, Mrs. Sexton was a daughter of the late M. L. "Pete" and Mary Louise Sisk Hardy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Norene Tegeder.
She retired from The National Bank in 1975 and was a homemaker. She was a former member of East Athens Baptist Church and member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church in Hartwell.
Survivors include husband, Ed Sexton; children James Hardy (Randy) Sexton of Hartwell and Robin N. (Ric) Veal of Clarkesville; four grandchildren, Jennifer Marek, Jamie Sexton, Jeremy Sexton and Ryan (Amy) Veal; great-grandchildren Colton, Paxton and Peyton Merek.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 25, 2009, at the East Chapel of Lord and Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. Ray Wurtzer and the Rev. Don Leaptrott officiating. Burial will follow at Oconee Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. Monday, August 24, 2009, at the funeral home.
