Watkinsville, GA - Jessie Harrison Ross, 88, died August 13, 2010 at his residence.
Mr. Ross was a longtime resident of Athens and Watkinsville and was owner of J.H. Ross Floor Service for 49 years before retiring in 2004. He was a U.S. Army veteran of
WW II, having served in Italy and France and was a member of VFW. Mr. Ross loved camping and was an avid fisherman, hunter and race car fan. He was a very loving and devoted family man and loved his dogs, Sadie and Bruiser.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Thelma Burkhalter Ross; daughters and their husbands, Brenda Sharp (Jim) of San Antonio, TX, Francine Brown (Jerry) of Hull, Nancy R. Matthews (Freddie) of Hull, Sherry L. Morrow (Gene) of Watkinsville, Kathy Brown Burt (Danny) of Elberton and Donna Duncan (Terry) of Watkinsville; brother, Odes Ross of Payson, UT; 14 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Monday, August 16, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Lord and Stephens Chapel, WEST with Dr. Steve Hurte and Rev. Jeff Wilkes officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Kelly Pugh, Jason Morrow, Dwayne Brown, Jeremy Brown, Justin Duncan and Eric Brown.
Honorary pallbearers will be Shawn Burns, Jamie Roberts and Chad Scarborough.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
Lord and Stephens, WEST is in charge of arrangements.
