Jessie Lorene Roberts

Jessie Vinson Roberts, age 89, devoted widow of William Lee Roberts succumbed to an extended illness October 17, 2015.

Proceeding her in death, along with Mr. Roberts (2000), are her parents, Fred H. and Pearl Dowdle Vinson, Aletha V. LaCount (2011) and Don H. Vinson (1993).

Jessie Lorena Vinson was born in Scaly Mountain, NC, April 1, 1926. After graduating from Highlands High School, Highlands, NC, she settled in Athens, GA and married William L. Roberts on June 6, 1947. Together they made Athens their home.

Jessie is survived by her siblings, Lucille V. Green, Williamson, GA; Fritz M. Vinson of Dillard, GA; Wilton D. Vinson of Pratville, AL; Selma V. Winfrey Green of Stephens, GA; Betty Jean V. Dewberry of Bremen, GA. Also surviving is a close and beautiful family including nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mrs. Roberts had great pride in her life membership as a founding partner of the Athens Region Chapter of the Antique Car Club of America (1970) and membership in the National Antique Auto Club. She was an avid collector of antiques, clocks and carnival glass. She worked diligently at her project of maintaining a well manicured yard with gorgeous flowers, shrubs and trees.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 11:00 AM until noon at Lord and Stephens, EAST. Interment will follow at 12:30 PM at Evergreen Memorial Park, Athens, GA.
