Jessie Ash Meyer, born March 16, 1935, of Arnoldsville, GA passed away on March 28, 2025, at the age of 90. The 10th and last child of the late Carl and Amanda Gilleland Ash, she was raised in Bishop, GA. She is predeceased by her brothers, Rufus Ash, Woodrow Ash, Ernest (Buck) Ash, Reverend James Ash, Donald Ash, and her sisters, Mary Bell Mundy, Geraldine Lovern, Lillian Jackson, Gladys Pearsall. Jessie married Howard Meyer on December 26, 1954. They made their home outside of Arnoldsville, GA on the Meyer family farm where they produced cotton, soybeans, wheat, beef cattle, and hay. She also maintained research poultry flocks on the farm for UGA professor of avian medicine Dr. Richard Davis. She later worked at Georgia Sports Wear where she made many long- time friends. The most difficult day of her life came on December 19, 2016, when Howard was called Home to Heaven. Jessie and Howard raised four children on the family farm, Kathy M Smith (James) of Watkinsville, GA, Sharon M Hill (Eddie) of Watkinsville, GA, Charles H Meyer Jr (Lynn) of Arnoldsville, GA, and John D Meyer (Nancy) of Arnoldsville, GA. Jessie leaves behind seven grandchildren, Amanda Moon, Andrew Smith, Mathew Hill, Christy Butler, Davis Meyer, Evan Meyer, Erich Meyer, and fourteen great grandchildren. Jessie will forever be remembered for her work ethic, always active, her green thumb, and her ability to produce vegetables for her family from a red clay garden spot. She lived alone in her house until March 6, 2025. The most important part of her life was her unwavering Christian Faith, and her love for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The family wants to thank the administration and staff at High Shoals Rehab for the one week Jessie spent there. In her words, the staff there treated her like royalty. We also thank the entire staff at Athens Piedmont hospital for the loving, caring, and gentle compassion they gave her during her two visits there. The care given to her in her final days by the Compassus hospice staff is something our family will share with our family's future generations. We also thank our family physician Dr. Steven Chesser for his years of medical care and friendship. No visitation will be held. Burial will be private.
