Atlanta - Jessie Hardeman G. Hardy, 103, died Tuesday, November 24, 2009, at her residence.
A native and longtime resident of Athens, she was the daughter of the late Mr. Robert J. and Mrs. Annie Bryant Hardeman and was preceded in death by two sisters, Miss Florry Hardeman and Mrs. Nina H. Haynie; and a brother, Mr. Lewis C. Hardeman.
Mrs. Hardy retired in 1967 from the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension Service as District Agent for the South Central District, covering 26 Southeast Georgia counties. Prior to her career with the Extension Service, Mrs. Hardy taught school in Cobb and Habersham Counties. She was an Emeritus member of the Order of Eastern Star, a member of American Retired Teachers Association and other professional organizations. Mrs. Hardy was a member of Winterville First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sister, Mrs. Nell H. Baldwin of Atlanta; nephew, Mr. Steven R. Baldwin of Atlanta; niece, Ms. Ann H. Floyd of Gainesville; and several great-nieces and -nephews.
Funeral services will be Sunday, November 29, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Lord and Stephens Chapel, EAST. Interment will be in Winterville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 1 p.m. - 2 p.m.
