Jesse James Jackson, 71, died Sunday, February 16, 2014. Born October 22, 1942 in Tuscumbia, AL to the late Mildred and Ruben Jackson. Jesse retired from E.R. Snell Road and Bridge Construction Company after 25 years of service, and was a member of Antioch Christian Church. Jesse was a Master Mason with Lodge #32 Callahan FL and 32 degree Scottish Rite Fort Myers FL.
In addition to his parents, Jesse was preceded in death by sisters Millie Wygant and Peggy Ellington.
Survivors in addition to his wife, Helen, of 50 years, include sons James (Shirley) Jackson of Carlton, and William (Holly) Jackson of Watkinsville, grandchildren, Jennifer (Johnny) Wise, Makayla Jackson, and Hollis Jackson, five great grandchildren, sister Gladys Vance of Orange City Fl, brothers Joseph (Eunice) Jackson of Golden Gate FL, Ricky Jackson of Sumpter, SC, Jacky (Sadie) Jackson of Bonita Springs, FL, Brother-in-law Franklin (Patsy) Savage of Farmington, special cousin James Owens of Herndano FL, along with several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 19, from 6-8 at Lord and Stephens Oglethorpe chapel. Funeral service will be Thursday, February 20, at 2 P.M. at Antioch Christian Church in Watkinsville, with Rev. Scott Bartholomew officiating. Interment will be at the church cemetery. Elders and deacons of Antioch Christian Church will serve as pallbearers.
