Born: August 31, 1928
Died: December 6, 2015

Danielsville, G.A. - Jesse William Diss, a faithful servant of the Lord, entered Heaven's glory on December 6, 2015, after a life dedicated to serving his Lord, his family, and the many communities in which he lived.
Born on August 31, 1928 in Pana, Illinois, to Chauncey Mitchel Diss and Ruby Fortner Diss. Jesse was the fifth of eight children: Jack Diss (deceased), Chauncey Diss Jr. (deceased), Ruth Diss Fleming, Kenneth Diss, Mary Diss Lawyer, Frank (Christine) Diss, and June (Chuck) Diss Crane.
After graduation from Taylorville High School, he joined the United States Air Force in December 1947 serving during the Korean War until December 1951. He received a Bachelor's degree in Bible from Bob Jones University on June 1, 1955, and would jokingly say he lost that degree the next day as he married the love of his live, Norma Heaton from Anderson, South Carolina. When God closed the door to serve as missionaries in Africa, He opened another door to start Grace Baptist Church in Starr, South Carolina in 1964. God gave Jesse and Norma wonderful opportunities to minister in Illinois, South Carolina, Florida, and Georgia both teaching and preaching.
Survivors include his four children Lynne Iannuzzi of Endicott, New York, Kathy (Jeff) Dickinson of Danielsville, Georgia, David Diss of Athens, Georgia, and Marilyn (Ken) Herwig of Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
He was the beloved grandfather of twelve grandchildren Jared (Katie) Dickinson, Nathan (Susan) Iannuzzi, Kara (Mark) Wright, Jesse (Leslie) Dickinson, Carrie Iannuzzi, Kelsey (Serge) Mejia, Aaron (Candace) Iannuzzi, Joshua Herwig, Benjamin Herwig, Jessica Herwig, Jeremy Herwig, Matthew Herwig; and great grandfather of six great grandchildren Chloe Iannuzzi, Sydney Iannuzzi, Julian Iannuzzi, Calvin Wright, Simone Iannuzzi, and Claire Wright.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, December 12 from 1:00-2:00 with a memorial service immediately following. Interment will be at the Bluestone Baptist Church's cemetery in Danielsville.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff of St. Mary's Hospice House for their professional and compassionate care.
Flowers are not necessary but gifts and contributions may be made in Jesse's memory to St. Mary's Hospice House, 1600 Jennings Mill Road, Watkinsville, Georgia 30677.
