Jerry G. Shelnutt

Jerry Shelnutt, 75, died May 30, 2015.
Born November 12, 1939 in Jackson County, GA, he was a son of the late Joe B. and Elizabeth Simmons Shelnutt.
Jerry retired from Fowler Products after thirty-three years as a sheet metal fabricator. After retirement, he was employed as a car courier with Barrett Dodge, Akins Ford of Athens and Athens Ford. He was a veteran of the United States Army and an active member of the Amvets Post 10 for many years.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, WEST. Interment will follow at Oconee Memorial Park.
Survivors include his wife of forty-four and a half years, Lizabeth T. Shelnutt; sister, Sylvia (Reid) McNabb of Nicholson; nephews, Greg Hawks, Rodney Shelnutt, Joseph Shelnutt and Johnny Pullin; nieces, Vicky (Brant) Prickett of Carnesville, Teri (Jody) Craig of Hull, Amanda (Bo) Manning of Commerce, Phebe (Eddie) Thomas of Athens, Wanda (Mike) Jackson of Winterville, Susan Anglin of Winterville and Deborah (Dean) Smart of Hartwell; ten great nephews; seven great nieces; several great-great nephews and nieces; one godson, Dallas Gabriel. Jerry will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Pallbearers will be Dallas Gabriel, Allen Smart, Jeff Smart, Greg Hawks, Buddy Thomas and Jeremy Pullin. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Amvets Post 10.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral, but otherwise may be reached at 1321 Gober Road, Bishop, GA 30621.
