Jerry Franklin Peterman, Sr.
Mr. Jerry F. Peterman, Sr. age 81, died peacefully at his home on Friday, August 7, 2020 surrounded by his family.
Mr. Peterman was born on May 3, 1939 in Stephens, GA to the late Ben W. and Vernon Cramer Peterman. He was employed by Dixie Wood, Inc. for most of his adult life. Upon retirement, he spent his spare time as a small engine mechanic; a pastime he loved and in which he excelled. He was able to share his skills with many of his friends and neighbors each spring as they prepared for the grass cutting season. Many times, he could be found mowing the grass for others because he had a heart for helping those in need. He also loved gardening, rabbit hunting, dove shoots, banana pudding and his family. His family was his proudest achievement. He loved them all deeply and it showed. Whether 5 or 75, any member of his family was lovingly called “Sugar”.
He was a member at Salem Baptist Church in Lexington where he served as a greeter while his health allowed. He greeted everyone with a big “Good Morning!” and “Glad to see you!
In addition to his parents, Mr. Peterman was preceded in death by his brothers Allen Peterman and Tom Peterman and sisters Edith Craft and Alma Amason.
