Jerry Lee Long, Sr.

Jerry Lee Long, Sr., 79, of Winterville, GA, passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2019.  Born on January 29, 1940 in Augusta, GA, he attended Richmond Academy.  In 1973, he graduated from the University of Georgia, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture.  He owned and operated a landscape business in Athens, GA for more than 30 years.

Mr. Long was a Navy veteran and a member of East Athens Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, on the grounds committee and worked with the Awana and Vacation Bible School Programs.

Mr. Long was the son of the late Robert Lee and Edna Will Long.  He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Frances Long and brother John (Jean) Long of Hepzibah, GA.  Together Jerry and Frances have a son and daughter: Jerry (Vicki) Long, Jr. of Winterville, GA and Mary (Robert) Wadsworth of Winterville, GA and four grandchildren: Adam (Jessica) Long, Alex (Chelsea) Long, Katherine Wadsworth and Elizabeth Wadsworth and one great grandson, Everett Long.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 22, 2019 at 3PM at Lord and Stephens East Chapel with Rev. Marty Jacobs officiating.  Interment will follow at Athens Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends Saturday from 5 until 7 at the funeral home as well as one hour prior to the service.
