Jerry L. Garrett

Jerry L. Garrett, 74, died April 23, 2014.
A native of Murfreesboro, TN, he was a son of the late Clarence Allen and Mattie Reid Garrett. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Clarence Garrett, Jr.; two sisters, Thelma Turner and Evelyn Kuhns; granddaughter, Bethany Garrett.
Mr. Garrett received his Bachelors of Science from Middle State University in Murfreesboro, TN and retired from accounting for the Southern Company in Atlanta, GA.
Jerry was fervent about researching and collecting Civil War artifacts and old Southern pottery. His passion was researching the history of his collectables to find the original owners, stories and the history behind these artifacts.
A memorial service will be Sunday, April 27, 2014 at 1:30pm at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, WEST. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service.
Survivors include his wife of thirty years, Susan V. Garrett; son, Douglas (Amy) Garrett of Tullahoma, TN; daughters, Tisha Garrett (Rick) Cochran of Jefferson, GA and Catherine Ann Garrett of Athens; grandchildren, Brett and Anslei Garrett of Tullahoma, TN and Luke and Lauren Cochran of Jefferson, GA; niece, Kathy Sork of Vancouver, WA; nephews, Bill Kuhns of Seattle, WA and Danny Kuhns of Bellevue, WA.
