Jerry Connor Adams died In his sleep on June 20, 2018, from stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
He is survived by his wife Patricia Barnett Adams, son Paul Andrew Adams (Washington, DC),
brothers, Brent Adams(Norcross, GA), Larry Adams (Waynesboro, VA), Robert Adams (Gastonia,NC), uncle Horace Adams (Elberton,GA), and 12 nieces and nephews. Jerry's sister, Carolyn Wynne and Jerry and Pat's sons, Patrick and Phillip, preceded Jerry in death.
Born in Anderson, SC, in 1937 to Inman C. Adams and Sarah Dye Adams, Jerry grew up and
graduated from high school in Elberton, GA. In 1960, he graduated from GA Tech in Industrial
engineering and an AF ROTC 2nd lieutenant. After pilot training near Valdosta, GA, the man
who joined the Air Force to see the world flew KB50s at Langley AF base in Virginia until 1963.
When his chance to see the world came, he was assigned to Yokota AFB in Japan flying with
310th Air Refueling Squadron, and later with 6485thAir Evac Squadron, flying throughout
Vietnam and Asia. Both those squadrons were honored several times , but some awards
could never be acknowledged. He was honorably discharged as a Captain USAF in 1967.
Jerry continued to fly when he was hired by Northwest Air Lines in Minneapolis, MN,
retiring after 27 years as a 757 Captain.
Celebration of Jerry's life will be at his home in mid August. Memorial donations are suggested to
Muscular Dystrophy Assoc, Multiple Myeloma Foundation , the UUFellowship of Athens choir or the MN Valley UU Fellowship choir.
