Jeanette Roberts, 89, died February 6, 2016.
A native of Penfield, Jeanette grew up in Lithonia and graduated from Lithonia High School. She was a homemaker and was very involved in school activities with her three children. This includes being President of the PTA at Stoneview Elementary School for many years as well as the lunchroom cashier at Rainbow Elementary School, Decatur. Jeanette was an active member of the Lithonia Women's Club, WMU and First Baptist of Lithonia, where she taught Sunday School and was Director of Vacation Bible School.
While living in Conyers, Jeanette was a member of Rockdale Baptist Church and the Pilot Club. Jeanette and her husband of sixty-five years, William Eugene Roberts moved to Watkinsville about ten years ago and became active members of Mars Hill Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday School Class.
Funeral services will be Monday, February 8, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, WEST with Rev. Jim Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, Owen and Ella Finch Giles; brother, Bo Giles; sister, Reba Bryant; and her husband, Bill, in November of 2015
Survivors include three children, Pam (Tommy) Head of LaGrange, GA, Cindy (Steve) Welshhans of Snellville and Dorrie (Herbert) Bond of Athens; sister-in-law, Peggy Giles of Loganville, GA; six grandchildren, Shannon Head, Michael (April) Head, Joshua (Megan) Welshhans, Katie Welshhans, Jessica Bond and Taylor Bond; two nieces, Charlotte (David) Cleghorn and Julie (Jack) Haynes; nephews, Howard (Angela) Giles and David (Selena) Giles.
