Jeanette Houseworth

Jeanette Strawn Houseworth passed away September 19, 2015, surrounded by her family. Jeanette was born December 20, 1923 in Riegelsville, Pennsylvania to Anna Rachael and Paul William Strawn. She was a dedicated member of St. John United Church of Christ in Riegelsville, PA, where she served on the consistory and as treasurer.
She graduated from Easton High School in 1941, prior to becoming a teller with The National State Bank in Milford, NJ. Jeanette also served as the CEO for W. G. Jens Coal Company after retiring from banking. She was a member of the Grand Chapter of the New Jersey Order of the Eastern Star.
Jeanette lived in Bridgetown township in Upper Black Eddy, PA and was predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years, Irvin Richard Houseworth. She is remembered for her dedication to her community, her love of her family and for her sparkling blue eyes that held equal measures of determination and happiness throughout a lifetime.
Jeanette is survived by her daughter, Sharon Gay (Jimmy) of Athens, GA; and granddaughters, Michelle Wikle (Thomas) of Stillwater, OK, Jennifer Harman (Brett) of Johns Creek, GA, Kimberly Wright (Edward) of Warrenton, VA, and Lauren Fontenot (Philip) of Prairie Village, KS and seven (7) beloved great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister, Catherine Bean and brother, George Strawn. She is survived by her brother, Richard Strawn; sister, Shirley Jenkins; and sisters-in-law, Evelyn Richardson, Verna Ullman, Marjorie Ulmer, Betty Harr, and Mary Strawn.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Jeanette Strawn Houseworth Memorial Fund, St. John United Church of Christ, 651 Easton Rd, Riegelsville, PA 18077. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Pennsylvania.
