Jean Fleming Maupin

Jean Fleming Maupin passed away on February 23, 2025, at the age of 76. 

Born on July 27, 1948, in Athens, Georgia, Jean was a cherished daughter of the late Hazel Huff Fleming and Roy Edward Fleming. She was preceded in death by her husband James (Jim) Maupin, Sr. 

Survivors include her twin sister, Jane Fleming, a sister, Mary Hancock, and a brother, Larry Edward Fleming; nieces and nephews, Bryan (Sabrina) Hancock, Lisa (Bruce) Carter, Tina (Mike) Saxon and Brad (Heather) Hancock; and numerous great nieces, great nephews and cousins. 

Jean was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church and in 2018, she became a member of Tuckston United Methodist Church in Athens, GA. 

After working in the real estate field for many years, she enjoyed life on St. Simon’s Island with Jim and later moved to Athens and became a devoted caregiver to her mother and later to friends who became like family to her. 

Jean was an exceptional gardener and growing and nurturing a variety of daylilies was her passion. Her love of life, generosity and caring will be remembered by those who knew her.
