After a short illness, Jean Kelley Hopkins, 96, went to be with the Lord on September 30, 2022 with her family present. She is predeceased by her loving husband, Stuart R. Hopkins, her parents, Mr. & Mrs. C Earl Kelley, her son, Paul Kelley Hopkins and a grandson, Stuart Anthony Nemetz.
Ms. Hopkins was employed as a Registered Nurse with the Obstetric and Gynecologic practice of Drs. Dixon, Branyon and Bowen. She enjoyed her church, reading, travel and being with her family and friends. She was an inspiration to her children and grandchildren. Her love, faith and steadfastness has shown us all how to love unconditionally, to face life's challenges with acceptance and hopefulness and to put God first in our lives. She is survived by her children, Susan Nemetz (Tom), Stuart R. Hopkins Jr. (Elizabeth), Nancy Masche (Robert), Mark S. Hopkins (Jill); her grandchildren, Bartow Ray III (Allison), Sara Tyer (Kevin), Kate Arthurs(Greg), Ryan Masche (Sarah), Kelley Hindman, Claire Allman (Hunter), Jack Hopkins (Amanda) and 9 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Rev. Robert Kelley, her step-grandchildren, Thomas Gill, Mark Gill (Louise) and David Gill (Stephanie); several nieces and nephews and her adopted Brazilian grandchildren, Rodrigo Paiva (Camila).
A memorial service will be held Saturday October 22, 2022 at 11:30 AM at Presbyterian Village Athens Chapel followed by a reception in the atrium. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a charity of your choice or this charity that was special to Jean: Matthew: 28, a non-profit Christian mission supporting 22 nutrition centers and an orphanage in Haiti, 222 Vega Rd.
