Jarrell Jackson Garrett III

Jarrell Jackson Garrett, III, died June 17, 2021.

A lifelong native of Athens, he was the son of Jarrell Jackson (Jackie) Garrett, Jr. and Allison Browne Garrett of Athens.

Jarrell proudly worked for NAPA as an auto parts salesman and was a talented musician.  He was of the Christian faith. Jarrell never met a stranger, and if he saw you in public, he would always say hello. Most people agree that his contagious laugh was one of his best attributes. If you were Jarrell’s friend, you were his friend for life. Even at some of the hardest times in his life, Jarrell always spoke positively of everyone, a trait most of us would envy.

One of Jarrell’s greatest passions in life was music. From playing guitar to writing his life story in sonnets, he could hypnotize an audience with his voice. Well over half of his life was spent playing shows with his best friends in Rollin’ Home, and there was rarely a time you caught him without a guitar in hand.

Although he had no children of his own, he treated his niece and nephews as his own. He took pride in spoiling them as often as possible. He was a loving brother and will be forever missed, day in and day out. Along with spending time with friends and family, his life was blessed by his girlfriend Lyndsey, who proved to him how wonderful life actually was.

Survivors in addition to his parents include his sister, Lauren Barnett and her husband Shaun of Athens and niece and nephews, Sam Tracy, Brady Barnett and Millie Barnett; Lyndsey Crenshaw of Athens; he is also survived by multiple aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The family will receive friends at Lord and Stephens East, Friday, June 25, 2021 beginning at 1:00 PM.  Services will follow in the chapel at 3:00 PM with Dr. Phil Wages officiating.

Memorials may be made to Emory Adult Congenital Heart Center or Sibley Heart Center Cardiology, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
