Janie Cook Rupert, 81, passed away January 23, 2025.
Born June 18, 1943, in Atlanta, GA, Janie was the daughter of the late Claude M. and Florine B. Cook. She was the widow of Richard “Dick” B. Rupert and was also preceded in death by their son, Richard “Rick” L. Rupert; her brother, Claude M. Cook; and her sister, Nancy C. Kinney.
Janie worked at the J.C. Penney Regional Office on Peachtree Street in Atlanta for twenty years. She was known for her extraordinary work ethic and fairness in working with others as she managed Data Processing, Human Resources and Software Documentation Departments. After retirement, her compassion for others was clear, as she worked tirelessly for years as a caregiver for numerous friends and family members. A great joy was going on trips with her children and grandchildren. It was never too cold, too hot or too far away for a grand-child’s ball game, band event or play. They were her source of so much happiness and pride and she cherished them all.
Janie was a member of Winder First Methodist Church. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be remembered most for her passion for others and love for family and friends.
