Janice Weese Thomas

Janice Weese Thomas, 77, of Watkinsville, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2024.

Born January 9, 1947, she was born to the late Talmadge Herschel Weese and Ruth Gann Weese of Soddy Daisy, TN. Jan joined The Pilot Club of Oconee County in 2004, serving as President from 2013 to 2014. For several years, she served as Club Treasurer in addition to serving in other capacities. Her favorite part of being a member was serving on the Fundraising Division responsible for raising funds to support various local service projects. She was a charter member of the Wednesday Afternoon Bridge Club where she became an astute bridge player and enjoyed hosting her friends for rousing games and socializing. She was loved and will be missed by her bridge friends. She was also a member of Bishop Methodist Church where she served as records keeper.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands: Gilbert Wallace Jones and Jimmy Emerson Thomas.

She is survived by her stepson Joel Thomas (Traci) and step granddaughter, Skylar Grace, of Suwanee, GA; brother Freddie Weese (Judy) of Soddy Daisy, TN; niece Angela Vetter (Jamie); grandnieces Kaylin Daughtery (Matt) and Haylie Vetter; great-grandniece Jovie; stepdaughters Jennifer Jones Krodel (Brad) and Stephanie Jones Britt; three step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren. 

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 15, 2024 at Lord and Stephens, West Chapel at 3:00 pm with Pastor Carol Staton officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 2:00 pm.
