Janice Dillard Faulkner

November 9, 1939 — February 21, 2024

Janice Rene Dillard Faulkner passed away peacefully and into the arms of her Heavenly Father on

February 21, 2024. She was 84 years old.

Janice was born in Oconee County, Eastville community, on November 9th, 1939, to the late Weymon and Wilda Dillard. In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her husband, George Faulkner; brother, Don Dillard; and sister-in-law, Bobbie Dillard.

Janice graduated from Oconee County High School in 1957 where she played on the girls basketball team. Janice’s enjoyment for basketball was only surpassed by her enjoyment of those lifelong friendships that were formed on and off the court while in high school.

After attending Athens Business College, Janice was fortunate to work for Robert “Bob” Argo Jr. of  Athens for fifty plus years. Throughout her career, Janice formed a special bond of friendship with the Argo family.

Forming friendship came easy for Janice. She cherished those friendships, just like she cherished her family. From eating Sunday lunches at her sister Trena’s house to the numerous trips with the “Big 8” group, her generous and caring spirit was apparent to all who were around her.

Janice was proud to be married to George for 60 years. She had spent the last several years of her life caring for George as he fought his battle with cancer. The same love and devotion Janice displayed as a wife, she showed as a mother and grandmother. She was the mother of two sons: Jeff (Patti) Faulkner and Todd (Stacey) Faulkner. She was “Gammy” to Nick, Jake, Claxton (Leighton) and Sydney Faulkner. Janice was also survived by her sister, Trena (Harold) Townley.

The family gives special thanks to Janice’s caregiver, Denise, who spent so much time with her after the passing of George. Our gratitude also extends to Dr. Flynt and staff at University Cancer and Blood Center for caring for both Janice and George for so many years.

A visitation will be held at Lord and Stephens West on Monday, February 26th, 2024, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life service at 5:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Janice’s memory can be made to The Cancer Foundation, Post Office Box 49309, Athens, Georgia 30604 or to Mars Hill Baptist Church, Post Office Box 289, Watkinsville, Georgia 30677, where Janice was a member for many years.
