Jan Anson Ruble
October 8th, 1937-June 26th, 2021
Jan Ruble, 83, peacefully passed away on Saturday, June 26th, 2021 at his home in Statham, Georgia.
He is preceded in death by his father Herschel Ruble and mother Elizabeth Wamsley Ruble. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Samm Ruble, his mother Elsie Ruble, his sons Jon Ruble (Talisha) and Mark Ruble, his daughter Kimberly Ruble Ward (Robby), a slew of grandchildren and great grandchildren, several brother and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews, and countless friends.
Jan loved his family with an unmatched and unyielding ferocity. Born in Hartford City, Indiana, Jan moved to Clearwater, Florida at the age of 16 where he attended Clearwater High School (class of 1953). He graduated from St. Petersburg College and the University of Florida with degrees in engineering, internal combustion engines, and water skiing. Jan worked for PAI Industries in Suwanee, Georgia for 46 years, designing and manufacturing parts for the heavy-duty truck industry. Jan's work led him to travel the world, starting in a small storage unit in California and growing to be one of the largest manufacturers in the world. Jan met his wife Samm in 1968, they married in 1971 at Cape Canaveral, Florida, and recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. After traveling the country, Jan and Samm settled in Statham, Georgia, where they established an environment to share life with their family and friends.
He had an extreme passion for cars, which was addicting to those around him. Jan built and raced high-performance cars for over 60 years, still racing one of the world's fastest late model Pontiac GTO's well into his 70's. He was always extremely supportive and encouraging to the next generation of car enthusiasts, quick to share knowledge and advice. His impact in the car and race world was immense and will live on forever in those he shared his passion with.
Jan's family will be hosting a Celebration of Life on Saturday, July 31st, 2021 at the John Oliver Michael house located at 1800 Hebron Church Rd. in Statham, Georgia from 12pm-4pm. The event will be casual, as Jan was a jeans-and-tshirt kind of guy. In lieu of flowers, his family asks that donations be made in Jan's name to St. Jude's Children's Medical Center or Shriner's Children's Hospital, two organizations that he wholeheartedly supported throughout his life.
His family encourages those who new him to share their stories, photos, and memories of Jan. It seemed as though everyone he met has some kind of adventure with him and they would enjoy hearing them. Jan was certainly one of a kind and his presence will be sorely missed, but his friends and family have found comfort knowing that he will live on in those who knew him. Those streets of gold are now surely paved in tread marks...
