On November 26, 2020, James Ervin “Judger” Saxon, 94, passed away in his daughter’s home surrounded by family. Born in Watkinsville on April 27, 1926, he was the son of the late Lunis Ervin and Ethel Barnett Saxon. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Marshall Thomas Saxon and Edward Mayne Saxon. He was born and raised on Saxon Road in Oconee County, the son of a dairy farmer. He remained on the farm his entire life and took over the dairy from his Father. In his younger days he was an avid hunter of deer, rabbit and quail, and enjoyed training hunting dogs for friends. He married Nezzie Lene Christopher in December of 1950. Together they ran a dairy farm for thirty years and raised two daughters. Following retirement from the dairy business, he worked and retired from the University of Georgia Experimental Research Center. He enjoyed sharing stories and reminiscing about days gone by; and he spent his retirement working in the garden and “piddling” in his yard. He will be most remembered for his wave at passing cars from the swing in the pecan tree of his yard. He was a member of Antioch Christian Church. He is survived by daughter and son-in-love, Donna Lynn and Loran Randall, daughter, Lawanna Kay Saxon, granddaughter, Laura Lynn Randall, and nieces, nephews and cousins. Special thanks to his caregivers, Julia Ann Powell, Jill Banyai, Geraldine Brown along with the staff at Kindred At Home Hospice, and most recently Compassionate Care Hospice. Flowers are welcomed or donations can be made to Antioch Christian Church. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 28th at Willoughby Cemetery on Greensboro Highway. Lord and Stephens Funeral Homes, West, Watkinsville, Georgia, is in charge of arrangements.
