James “Jim” Robinson passed away on Saturday, November 24, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Edward Robinson, Jr., and Louise Thorne Robinson. He is survived by his wife, Lynn; daughter and son-in- law, Jan and Kris Wall; son, Clay Robinson; grandchildren, Davis and Finley Wall;
sister and brother in law, Judy and A.P. Jones, and several nieces and nephews.
Jim grew up in Burke County, Georgia and graduated from Waynesboro High School; he attended Georgia Southern University and Middle Georgia College, and graduated from Augusta College and State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He spent several years working with the Georgia Department of Transportation. After earning his C.P.A. designation, he worked in the Georgia Department of Audits and Accounting and retired in 2007.
In his retirement, Jim enjoyed his church, traveling, Georgia football, and playing golf. He volunteered numerous hours with the food bank and in serving the homeless. His faith was of paramount importance, and he described his Christian purpose as “positively impacting others to live through Jesus’ example”. For a small-town Georgia boy, he traveled frequently in retirement throughout Europe, to several Caribbean counties, including Cuba, to 40 of the 50 states, and took a driving tour of the U. S. West Coast. He best described his golfing achievements as “having a very low cost per stroke” and “losing purposely so my buds would keep playing with me”.
Jim’s life will be celebrated with a Memorial Service at his beloved Oconee River Church on Sunday, December 2, 2018, @ 2:00 p.m. Visitation with the family will begin at 1:00 at the church, which is located at 395 Research Drive, Athens, GA.
