Watkinsville - James Ralph Wilson, 59, died July 25, 2007.
A native of Banks County, he was the son of Francine Smith Wilson of Athens, and the late James Roy Wilson. He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Isaac Wilson and sister, Joan Ann Wilson. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the 82nd Airborne Division in Vietnam. He was a retired teacher, having taught in Dacula, Indiana, Monroe, Barrow County, Rockdale County and Oconee County. Mr. Wilson was an Associate Minister and founding member of New Life Apostolic Church, Bible teacher, and on the Board of Directors.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 28, 2007, at 11:00 AM at New Life Apostolic Church, Watkinsville, with Bishop Douglas Hammond and Pastor Tim Hammond officiating. Interment will be in Athens Memory Gardens.
Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife, Ruth Hammond Wilson; son and daughter-in-law, Andy and Tammy Wilson of Watkinsville; three sisters, Linda Howard of Lexington, Connie Butler of Nicholson, and Jean Wilson of Athens; one grandson, Caleb Wilson; and a host of family and friends.
Pallbearers will be: Eddie Butler, Jimmy Compton, Ricky Hagwood, Chris Hicks, Kevin Hammond, Tony Anderson, Bubber Cowart, Stevie Hammond.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
