James Willoughby, 77, of Colbert, widely known as Burdaddy, avid sports fan and longtime manager/owner of Mell’s Place, died January 17, 2021.
Born in Madison, GA, he was a son of Charlie Willoughby and Nellie Mae Willoughby Stapp. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Pinson Willoughby and his brother, Weyman Willoughby.
James is survived by his children, Darlene Hall of Statham, Ralph Willoughby, Jr. (Pam) of Hull, Billy Willoughby (Tammy) of Statham and Deborah Wells (James) of Winterville; grandchildren, Leigha Taylor Streetman (Josh), Stacie Acree (Justin), Dusty Hall, Katherine Mansker (Jordan), Katie Dorsey (Dustin), Billy Joe Willoughby, Jessica Willoughby, Michael Wells (Autumn) and Jackson Willoughby; great grandchildren, Laila, Ansley, Harleigh, Gabby, Teagan, Logan and Ryan; sister, Geraldine Brown (Ted) of Farmington.
The family will receive friends at Lord and Stephens, EAST, Monday, January 18, 2021 from 6:00 until 9:00 PM. Services will be Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Lord and Stephens Chapel with Rev. David Strickland officiating. Burial will follow at Winterville Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dusty Hall, Billy Joe Willoughby, Jackson Willoughby, Michael Wells, Dustin Dorsey and Josh Streetman.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jordan Mansker, Justin Acree, Mitch Helms and Blake Booth.
