James Towns Vinson (Peanut), 86, of Athens, died September 29, 2011.
Mr. Vinson was the former owner of Peanut's Redneck Bar B.Q. He served during WW II in France, Belgin, Normandy and Italy.
Mr. Vinson is survived by his wife of 63 years, Martha Morris Vinson; son, Ricky Vinson and wife Becky; daughter, Karen Manley and husband Bill; grandsons, Jason Manley and wife Amy, Steven Vinson and wife, Anna and granddaughter, Jennifer Lowry and husband Brandon, and 5 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Sunday, October 2, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Whitehall Baptist Church with Rev. Buford Lockman officiating. Entombment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
Flowers are optional. Donations may be made to Whitehall Baptist Church.
The family would like to express special thanks to Odyssey Hospice for their loving care.
