James "Jimmy" Lee Tucker, Sr., 73, a long time resident of Athens, died February 21, 2007.
Born in Oglethorpe County, he was the son of the late Charlie M. and Estelle Stewart Tucker. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters: Curtis Rountree and Sara White; brother: Charlie T. Tucker. He served in the US Navy, 1953-1956 and was aboard the LST 529 and served in the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Geraldine Tucker; children: James Lee Tucker, Jr. and wife, Nancy; daughter, Wendy Jordan and husband, Wes, and son, Mark Tucker and wife Christy. He had four grandchildren: Jamie Tucker, Alex Jordan, Nicole Jordan, and Rossi Tucker. He is also survived by two sisters: Frances Spivey and husband Ed, Darlene Aiken and husband Billy and sister-in-law Pearl Tucker; and lots of nieces and nephews.
He started Tucker Electric in 1970 and was an electrician for fifty years. He was a devoted family man. He was a loving husband, devoted father, wonderful grandfather and devoted brother and loyal friend to many.
The funeral service will be held 2:00PM, Saturday, February 24, 2007 at Lord & Stephens East Chapel with Revs. Tony Lee and Randy Crowe will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Evergreen Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be John Garrison, Paul Oeland, Doug Welch, Freddy Escoe, Neal Evans and Randy Randolph. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Murray and John Oldham.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Jimmy Tucker to Moon's Grove Baptist Church Youth Group, 2304 Moon's Grove Church Road, Colbert, GA 30628
