James Alvis "Jim" Sheffield

James (Jim) Alvis Sheffield, 67, died March 21, 2013.
Born in Ozark, AL, he was the son of the late Joe M. and Audrey Philmon Sheffield and was preceded in death by a brother, Joe M. Sheffield, Jr.
Jim received his associate degree from Polk Junior College in Lakeland, FL. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving 3 tours in Vietnam, during which he received the Bronze Star and 2 Purple Hearts. Following his military service, he worked as a general contractor.
Survivors include his sisters, Linda (Thomas J.) Smith of Athens and Rachel (Donald) Bell of Lakeland, FL; brother, Phillip (Susan) Sheffield of Bogart; sister-in-law, Toni Sheffield of Lakeland, FL and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 3:00 PM at Lord and Stephens Chapel, WEST with Revs. John Walker and Bruce Lovin officiating.
Memorials may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 2340 Prince Avenue, Suite B, Athens, GA 30606.
