James Steve Shackelford

Athens - James Steve Shackelford, 94, died December 7, 2007.
Mr. Shackelford graduated from Winterville High School. He worked in construction and sales for Caskey and Sons, Mathis Construction Co., and Akins Concrete Products. In retirement he was a building inspector for Athens First Bank and Trust and later for the city of Watkinsville. He was a member of Athens Civitan Club, Athens Home Builders, The Coliseum Club and Princeton United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be Monday, December 10, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Princeton United Methodist Church with Rev. Russell Repetske officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Al Shackelford, David Dawes, Taz Dixon, Stewart Dixon, Tom Link and Doug Baxter.
He is survived by three sons, James (Louise) Shackelford of Dublin, Ga., Don (Lois) Shackelford of Athens, Lamar (Kay) Shackelford of Las Vegas, Nev.; grandchildren, Taz (Angee) Dixon of Valdosta, Stewart (Angela) Dixon of Dublin, Al Shackelford of Athens, Susan (David) Dawes of Los Angeles, Calif., Kathrine Shackelford of Las Vegas, Nev.; great grandchildren, Taylor, Austin, Grace Ann, Jacob, and Karissa; nieces, Billie (Tom) Link of Watkinsville and Angie (Merle) Wood of Roanoke, Va.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Princeton United Methodist Church, 2390 South Lumpkin Street, Athens, GA 30606.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
