Bogart, GA - James C. Sapp, 86, died peacefully at home with his family by his side on May 30, 2014.
Born in Osierfield, GA on September 7, 1927, he spent his early childhood in Broxton, GA and lived in the Athens area since 1980. He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnson W. and Floriece Thornton Sapp and brother Johnson Warren Sapp.
Mr. Sapp was a veteran of the United States Navy and graduated from the Naval Academy, where he was a pilot and flew his favorite plane - The Corsair.
Following his service in the Navy, he graduated with a business degree from the University of Georgia. He then went to work for Southern Bell as an engineer and retired as District Engineer after thirty years.
Mr. Sapp was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing.
As per Mr. Sapp's wishes, a private family memorial service was held.
Survivors include his wife, Lynora Tate Sapp; children, Jane (Wade) Stowe of Bartow, GA and Jim (Carol Perry) Sapp of Athens, GA; granddaughter, Terran Sapp of Evanston, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association of a charity of your choice.
