James Fredrick Riggs

December 17, 1926 — July 28, 2012

James F. Riggs, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away Saturday, July 28, 2012. He was 85.
James was born in Olean, New York but grew up in St. Mary's, West Virginia. He graduated from the University of Arizona in 1951 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and worked for Johns-Manville Corp. as a physical distribution manager until his retirement.
He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps, and a member of the Woodburn Circle Society of West Virginia University. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Athens.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; Fred W. Riggs and Pauline S. Riggs, as well as his first wife Helen Scott Riggs of St. Mary's, his second wife Emily H. Riggs of Thomaston, Georgia, daughter Susan Riggs Garrett and step-daughter Nina Davison Brese.
He is survived by his son, Randy Riggs and wife Patti Riggs of Austin, Texas; step-daughter Emily D. Oxford and husband Larry Oxford of Thomaston, Georgia; step-son James D. Davison and wife Doreen Davison of Londonderry, New Hampshire; grandchildren Adam Riggs and Katy Riggs of Austin, Texas, 8 step-grandchildren, and 9 step great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Highland Hills Village with Rev. Martha Aenchbacher officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 4:00 until 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.
Lord and Stephens, WEST, Bogart, is in charge of arrangements.
