James (Jimmy) Joseph Parish, 91, of Crawford, formerly of Tucker and Lavonia, died Thursday August 8, 2013.
Born October 5, 1921 in Dekalb County GA, he was the son of the late Lula Jane Tweedy Parish and James B. Parish. Mr. Parish was a member of the "Greatest Generation", a US Army Veteran having served during World War II, and was retired from 35 years at McKenney's Incorporated, Mechanical Contractors of Atlanta. He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather who left his family with a legacy of his wisdom and the life lessons that he taught them.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Parish was preceded in death by his half-sister, Lillian (Alfred) Britt, a niece, Frances Britt and nephew, Alfred N. Britt, Jr.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Frances Haralson Parish, daughter Linda Parish, of Lexington, daughter and son - in-law Carol and Butch Banks of Monroe and daughter and son-in-law Ann and Fred O'Neill of Gainesville, granddaughters Christy (Greg) Parker of Roswell, Jerilyn Titus (John) May of Lexington, Jaime (Brian)Lackey of Marietta, Jennifer (Dave) Jeffery of Loganville, great grandchildren Kate and Sarah Parker, Andrew Titus, Tyler Lackey, and Travis, Carolyn and Eric Jeffery, great nephew and niece, A N Britt III (Bud) and Mary Frances O'Dell of Stockbridge, and his caregiver angel, Patricia Goans.
Funeral services will be held at Lord and Stephens East, 4355 Lexington Road, Athens, GA, Sunday August 11 at 1:00, and visitation will be held Saturday evening, August 10 from 6:00 to 8:00.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday August 11 at 4:00 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 4278 Chamblee-Tucker Road, Tucker, GA.
