Stevens - James Anthony Norton, Jr., 86, died September 5, 2007.
A native of Rockdale County, Ga., he was a son of the late Lula Caroline and James Anthony Norton, Sr., and was preceded in death by a brother, Benjamin Fletcher Norton. He was a longtime mechanic and a member and deacon of Salem Baptist Church of Lexington.
Funeral services will be Friday, September 7, 2007, at 11:00 AM at Salem Baptist Church with Revs. Dan Fuller and Clayton Sanders officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Agnes S. Norton; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Mike Whitehead of Arnoldsville, Ga.; granddaughter, Casey Whitehead of Arnoldsville, Ga.; sister, Berlene Mann of Suwanee, Ga.; brother, Paul Holtzclaw of Rhine, Ga.; a number of nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
Pallbearers will be Steve Mann, Ben Cardin, Nick Cardin, Barry Walker, Brett Fowler, Cullen Paradise, Andy Paradise, and Tim Hansford.
Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of Salem Baptist Church and Bill Paradise.
Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to Vista Care Hospice, 150 Ben Burton Road, Bogart, GA 30622.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Lord and Stephens, EAST, is in charge of arrangements.
