Colbert - James Lester Morrow, age 79, died Saturday, December 13, 2008 at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 15, 2008 at 2PM at Colbert United Methodist Church with Rev. James Haralson officiating. Burial will follow in Colbert Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Steven Morrow, Chris Morrow, Michael Morrow, Greg Palmer, Lance McCarty and Wayne McCarty.
A native of Taliaferro County, he was the son of the late Will Tom and Nora Bell Chapman Morrow and husband of the late Thelma McCarty Morrow. Lester was a shoe repairman for more than 60 years, working at Alps Road Shoe Repair and owning Lester's Shoe Repair in Elberton and Colbert. He was a member of Colbert United Methodist Church.
Survivors include eight children, Lester Gene (Tammy) Morrow of Arcade, Brenda (Ahmed) Abdel-Hafez of Hull, Charlie Weatherford, Susie Outz, Marian Vaughn, Wanda Lemmonds, Cheryl Weatherford, Charlene Stewart; ten grandchildren, Darren Palmer, Greg Palmer, Wayne McCarty, Lance McCarty, Steven Morrow, Chris Morrow, Cindy Leake, Mandy Leake, Michael Morrow, Samantha Morrow; and ten great-grandchildren, Vince Damiano, Parker Morrow, Sabrina Free, Joni Anderson, Zachary Palmer, Jonathan Palmer, Will Graves, Lanie Beth McCarty, Landon McCarty and Summer McCarty.
Visitation will be held Sunday, December 14, 2008 from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will receive friends at the residence of his daughter, Brenda Abdel-Hafez, 145 McCannon Morris Road, Hull, GA 30646.
