James Leslie McClain Jr

December 17, 1947 — December 31, 2015

James L. McClain, Jr., 68, died December 31, 2015. Born in Athens, and longtime resident of Chattanooga, TN, he was the son of the late James L., Sr. and Hattie Moore Limehouse McClain.
James was a graduate of Georgia Tech, earning his degree in Electrical Engineering. Following in his father's profession, he became one of the most respected engineers in his field of steam turbines at numerous facilities including Sequoyah and Watts Bar Nuclear Power Plants. He retired from Siemens (formerly Westinghouse) following almost 50 years of service.
James was an accomplished motorcycle racer, especially enjoyed college football and Nascar and was proud of his longtime membership in Elks Lodge #91, Chattanooga. Most of all, James loved his family and his work.
Survivors include his sons, Perran Lewis Davis, III (Karen), of Hollywood, PA and James L. McClain, III (Tina), of Powell, TN; grandchildren, Diamond Allison Davis Adams and Gage Jameson McClain.
The family will receive friends at Corinth Baptist Church, Sunday, January 3, 2016 beginning at 1:00 PM. Services will follow at 4:00 PM with Rev. Richard McFall officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
