Mauldin, S.C. - James "Jim" Hamilton Matthews, 43, died June 16, 2009.
A native of Clarke County, Ga., he was a son of Fred R. and Rhoda Arnold Matthews of Athens, Ga. He was a 1984 graduate of Cedar Shoals High School and also graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Turf Management and Horticulture. He was the current superintendent of Greenville Country Club, Chanticleer Course in Greenville, S.C. He attended Brookwood Church in Simpsonville, S.C., and was a member of Carolina's Golf Course Superintendents Association and the United States Golf Association.
Funeral services will be Friday, June 19, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Tuckston United Methodist Church in Athens with Dr. Sheila Bookout officiating.
Memorial services will be Monday, June 22, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Brookwood Church Chapel in Simpsonville, S.C.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his wife, Terry Easterling Matthews; two sons, Jimmy Matthews and Jackson Matthews; and brother, Robert "Rob" Arnold Matthews (Melissa) of Athens.
