James Marvin Foster

April 30, 1919 — September 7, 2011

James Marvin Foster was the eldest son of James Samuel and Ethel Cox Foster of Bishop, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his wives Helen Wheeler Foster, Lizbeth Roth Foster, and Georgianna Foster as well as his sister, Mary Louise Foster and his brothers, Joe Cox Foster, Fred Hill Foster and Charlie Heath Foster. He is survived by his sister Margaret E. Foster, his brother and sister-in-law George and Barbara Foster, his stepson Tom Henderson and his three children, and nieces and nephews.
Mr. Foster served in the Unites States Army during World War II. He graduated from the University of Texas. He lived for a time in Johnson City, Tennessee, and was active in the Boy Scouts of America there. He spent most of his life, however, in Jacksonville, Florida, and worked for the Gulf Oil Company. Memorial gifts may be made to the Boy Scouts of America.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, November 13, at the graveside at Evergreen Memorial Park on the Atlanta Highway in Athens, GA, at 3:00 PM. A reception will follow at the home of his niece, Mary Lillie Chamberlin, 1700 Broadlands Drive, Watkinsville, GA. Arrangements are being handled by Lord and Stephens, WEST.
