Athens, GA - James David Marbut, Jr., 36, died August 18, 2009.
A native and lifelong resident of Clarke County, he was the son of James D. (Jimmy) and Betty Marbut of Athens.
David was a 1991 graduate of Athens Academy and attended Georgia College in Milledgeville, where he was a member of Kappa Alpha fraternity. He owned and operated Georgia Tub and Tile Refinishers and was also employed with Kroger. David was a member of First Christian Church.
Funeral services will be Saturday, August 22, 2009 at 11:00 AM at First Christian Church with Rev. Patrick Chandler officiating.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Seabolt, Thomas Marbut, Richard David Marbut, Brad Bohannan, Kelley Minish and Matthew Munnell.
Survivors in addition to his parents include his wife, Erin Evans Marbut and his children, Evan James Marbut and Virginia (Ginny) Elizabeth Marbut of Athens; brother, Kirk Marbut and his wife Rhonda of Marietta; grandmother, Marie LaCount of Grovetown; mother-in-law, Shirley Evans of Athens; father-in-law, James William Evans of Cashiers, NC; sister-in-law, Dr. Courtney Sinclair and her husband, Patrick of Canton; brother-in-law, Jarrad Evans and his wife Stephanie of Greenwood, SC; nieces and nephews, Allie Grace Marbut, Grant Marbut, Neil Sinclair, Robert Sinclair, Carter Evans and Savannah Evans; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM and will also be at the residence of Jimmy and Betty Marbut, 224 Plum Nelly Road, Athens, GA 30606.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the James David Marbut, Jr. Memorial Fund for his children, c/o First American Bank and Trust Company, P.O. Box 1688, Athens, GA 30603-1688 or any branch.
