James Oran Ledford, Jr.
Jim Ledford passed away on January 4, 2019, at the age of 73, surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Oran Ledford and Edith Davis Ledford, and his daughter Shannon Ledford Jackson. He is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Carol Howard Ledford, daughters Ashley Ledford Foreman (Brian), Brittany Ledford Geithman (Tim), and son-in-law Robert Jackson. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Hunter McBride (20), Erin Jackson (20), Harrison McBride (16), Rhett Jackson (16), River Foreman (15), Addison Shockley (13), Reece Foreman (12), Brayden Shockley (11) and Harper Shockley (8). He is also survived by his brother Thomas Ervin Ledford (Marcia), and brother-in-law Danny Howard (Sheri), nieces, Tracy Ledford Rhoades, Sarah Ledford McAfee, Abigail Ledford, Beth Craig and nephew Mark Gilliland. In addition, he is survived by several great nieces and nephews.
Jim graduated from Martin College and then entered the Army and served in the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge, he returned to college and graduated from Middle Tennessee State University and then received his graduated degree from the University of Alabama.
He began his career with Ernst and Ernst as a CPA in their Atlanta office. He later worked with the Southern Company and completed his career as CFO with Nth Degree in Atlanta. He and his family retired in Athens Georgia, where he spent many hours enjoying his grandchildren. Jim had many life long friends that he remained very close to including Jerry Bush, Bill Osborne and Dennis Korner. He was an avid Alabama football fan and enjoyed the game of golf.
Pallbearers: Rob Jackson, Brian Foreman, Tim Geithman, Hunter Mc Bride, Harrison McBride, Rhett Jackson, Reece Foreman and Brayden Shockley.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at 2:30 pm at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville. The family will receive friends Monday, January 7, 2019 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
