James Edward "Ed" Kennedy Jr

James E. Kennedy, 80, husband of Nancy Drake Kennedy, died Monday, January 07, 2013.
A native of Newport News, VA, he was the son of the late James E. Kennedy, Sr. and Bertha Lee Scott Kennedy. He served his country in the US Army and retired from Miles Laboratory as a Pharmaceutical Salesman and had also worked for Publix. As a resident of Oconee County, he was very active in the Lions Club, Oconee Clean and Beautiful, Oconee Animal Control and was an active member of the Oconee Veteran's War Memorial for 10 years. He was a member of Ashford Memorial Methodist Church.
Survivors in addition to his wife include his children and their spouses: Lisa (Lynn) Joyner of Watkinsville, Kathleen (Jeff) Watson of Loganville, Thomas Scott (Nina) Kennedy of Crawford; sisters: Polly Scott Kennedy of Abingdon, VA, Rebecca Davis of Mt. Juliet, TN, Sandra Clark of Newport News, VA; grandchildren: Daniel Joyner, Kayla Joyner, Ashley (Alex) Willard, Tyler Roberts and Emmy Kennedy.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 11am at Lord & Stephens West Chapel. The family will receive friends Friday, January 11 from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. The Oconee County Lions Club will be honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Oconee Veterans War Memorial or the Oconee County Lions Club.
Lord & Stephens West is in charge of arrangements.
