James E. Jordan, 72, died peacefully surrounded by his family on March 8, 2011.
A native of Hart County, he was a son of the late James R. and Valeria D. Jordan and was preceded in death by a brother, J. R. Jordan.
Mr. Jordan was in the first graduating class of Madison County High School. He served in the United States Air Force from 1957 until 1961 and retired from the United States Postal Service. He was of the Baptist faith and resided in Madison County all of his life.
Survivors include sister, Margaret (Fred) Prickett of Athens; son, Greg Jordan of Marietta; daughters, Cindy Jordan of Hartwell and Sandra Nemetz of Athens; grandchildren, Kerry, Jordan and Christopher Nemetz and Ellis Jordan; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be Friday, March 11, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Pennington Chapel Cemetery, Royston, GA.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Hospice of Athens.
