James R. "Randy" Jones

Mr. Jones was born in Baxley, GA on November 2, 1944, was married to Lesley L. Jones who is employed by the GHSU/UGA Medical Partnership in Athens. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert (Doc) Jones and Lois B. Jones of Baxley and brother, Kenneth Jones of Brunswick.
Survivors include addition to her wife include his sisters, Patricia (Gene) Rouse of Jesup, Bobbie (Billy) McNeely of Swainsboro and Mary Atkins (the late Jake Atkins) of Blackshear; one brother, Ernest (Harlene) Jones of Baxley; son, Sgt. Jason (Myra) Higgins; daughter, Carrie DeFoor (Patrick) Holl; son, Mike Jones of Jesup; daughter, Sherry Jones of Sylvania. Also surviving are five grandsons, Caleb DeFoor, Micah DeFoor, Glenn Higgins and Sam Higgins, all of Watkinsville and Mike Jones of Jesup; granddaughter, Katelyn Higgins of Watkinsville; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Sunday, November 20, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, WEST, with visitation from 11:00 am until 1:30 pm. Reverend Eric Buffington of Bishop Baptist Church and Rev. Dan Fuller, retired, Briarwood Baptist Church of Watkinsville. Interment will be in Oconee Memorial Park.
Music will be provided by Scarlett Queen, sister of Myra Higgins and Ernestine Malcolm.
Pallbearers will be Caleb DeFoor, Micah DeFoor, Investigator Patrick Holl, W. J. Conybear, Judge W. A. Foster, III and Patrick Fitzgerald. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of the Oconee County Sheriff's Office.
Contributions may be forwarded to Bishop Baptist Church for the Haiti Mission Trip or to Concerns of Police Survivors (COPS) by contacting the Oconee County Sheriff's Office.
Lord and Stephens, WEST, is in charge of arrangements.
