James H. Shivar III of Watkinsville, GA passed away on February 12, 2015, at the age of 58, after a long battle with meta-chromatic leukodystrophy. He was born on November 4, 1956, in Athens GA. He is the son of James H. and Doyle ("Dot") Shivar, Jr.

Jamie was a committed follower of Jesus Christ and was a long time member at the Prince Ave. Baptist Church and the Hull Baptist Church. Jamie was a long time employee of the University of Georgia. He enjoyed reading about space, spending time with his family, and running. He earned a third degree black belt in American Karate.

He is survived by his parents, James H. and Doyle ("Dot") Carter Shivar, Jr., of Watkinsville; his brother, David Carter Shivar and wife Beverly, of Athens; nephew, Nathan Shivar and wife Shannon, of Atlanta; niece Lydia Shivar, of Athens; niece Hannah Simpson and husband Jimmy; nephew Jason Shivar, of Athens; and great-nephew Benjamin Shivar, of Atlanta.

The funeral service will be held at Lord and Stephens West on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at 2PM with Rev. David Shivar and Rev. Randy Crowe officiating. The family will receive visitors on Friday, February 13, 2015 from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. The family request that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Prince Avenue Christian School, 2201 Ruth Jackson Rd., Bogart, GA 30622.
