James Edward Hale, 92, of Athens , GA , died Monday, June 8, 2015. A native of Athens, he was the son of the late Homer G. Hale, Sr. and Effie Bramblett Hale. He was also preceded in death by his siblings: Emma Sue Cofer, Mary Ward, Evelyn Fowler, Ida Kilgo, Faye Rice and Homer G. Hale, Jr. Jimmy was a lifelong member of Princeton United Methodist Church where he served in many leadership roles. Within the United Methodist Church he was recognized as a Certified Lay Leader. He served as President of the Athens Elberton District United Methodist Men and was recognized with a Lifetime Membership. During WWII he served in the US Navy aboard the U.S.S. John Rodgers DD-574 during 1942-45. He is retired from Athens-Clarke County Water Department after 38 years. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ezelle Williams Hale; daughters: Susan Hale Brooks of Watkinsville and Beth Hale (Dan) Swindell of Kettering, OH; brother: Hugh (Peggy) Hale of Athens; grandchildren: Jamie Arnold, Kevin Brooks and Dana Swindell and one great grandchild, Asher Arnold. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 13, 2015 at 2PM at Princeton United Methodist Church with Revs. Dee Dee Lawson and Don Cooper officiating. The family will receive family and friends two hours prior to the service at the church. Interment: Evergreen Memorial Park .
