James Ezra Fitzpatrick

James Ezra Fitzpatrick, 84, of Hull, went to be with his Lord on March 5, 2015. He was born on July 7, 1930 to John Henry Fitzpatrick and Mattie Wheeler Fitzpatrick.
James was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Clarence Fitzpatrick, sons Tim Shields and Jeffery Dale Fitzpatrick.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Mae Fitzpatrick and his children, Jamie (Alan) Combs of Colbert, Jenny (Ted) Jackson of Grayson, Jim (Carolyn) Fitzpatrick of Watertown, NY, Leslie Ann (Dan) McKenrick of Fredericksburg, VA, Ray (Kathy) Shields of Summerville, SC, Shelby (Peter) Moseley of Cumming, Bo (Angela) Shields of San Antonio, TX, Susan Shields of Lawrenceville and David (Pam) Shields of Hull. James is also survived by his precious grandchildren, Casey (Denise) Shields, Kevin Shields, Sara Beth (Alex) Tarwater, Taylor Shields, Kristin, T.J. and Haley Fitzpatrick, Sean and Joseph Moseley, Ansley and Addison Combs, Amber Echols, Mackenzie Shaw, Lyrin Shields, Josh (Alexis) McKenrick, Danielle McKenrick, Dr. Tom (Carrie) Neveldine, Mark (Alison) Neveldine. He also has 8 great grandchildren, brother, Roy Lee Fitzpatrick of Hull, 2 nephews and 1 niece.
James proudly served his country in the Korean war. He was in the Army from 1949-57 during which he received numerous medals. He loved serving his country and his eyes would light up when he spoke of his time in the service. He was a member of the V.F.W. for 65 years where he served in various roles.
James was a member of West End Baptist Church, Athens and an avid Bulldog fan. He was loved by so many and we will forever miss you, Daddy.
Graveside services will be Monday, March 9, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Oconee Hill Cemetery with Rev. Buford Lockman officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to V.F.W. Post 2872, Athens, GA.
