Athens - Mr. James Lamar Farr, 76, died on Thursday, February 15, 2007. A native Athenian, Mr. Farr was the son of the late Bert and Annie Mae Farr. He was preceded in death by a son, Franklin Lamar Farr and six brothers.
Mr. Farr was retired from Westinghouse/ABB since 1991, and was a member of East Athens Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the US Army and served in Germany.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Carolyn Fleming Farr, daughter and spouse, Tamela (Tammi) Karol and Jimmy D. Crowe, Hull, Ga.; step-son, Jeffrey C. Allen, Atlanta, Ga.; grandsons and spouse, Joseph Wilson and Christy Berryman, Jr., and Brandon Crowe, Hull, Ga.; granddaughter, Miranda Leigh Farr, Anderson, S.C., and great-grandsons, Ezekiel and Braxton Berryman; sister, Vera Ross and brother, Carlton F. Farr, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, February 17th at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, East. Reverend Don Leaptrott will officiate. Interment will be at Athens Memorial Gardens, Lexington Road.
Pallbearers will be: William Adams, Joe Berryman, Dennis Cowart, Terry Dean, Wendell Gabriel, Thomas Patton, Caleb Self, and Harold Veal.
Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to East Athens Baptist Church, 4325 Lexington Road, Athens, GA 30605.
The family will receive friends at Lord and Stephens, East, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, February 16th.
