Winterville - James Earleston Dortmundt, 59, died Thursday, March 29, 2007 at his residence.
Born in Norfolk, VA, he was the son of the late John E. and Dorothy L. Dortmundt. He was a musician and a painter/restoration artist in the Athens area since the mid 1970's. Known to his friends as Jimmy, he played in many bands over the years focusing mostly on guitar and vocals, but was truly a gifted musician all-around.
Survivors include: his son, James Dortmundt of Winterville, GA, his daughter, Jillian McNeely of Athens, GA, his sister Deborah Hastings of Virginia Beach, VA and companion Elizabeth Herrin of Winterville, GA
A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, April 7, 6:00 P.M. at 2090 New Town Church Road, Carlton, GA 30627.
Memorials may be made to Vista Care Hospice, 150 Ben Burton Road, Bogart, GA 30622.
