James H. Dillard, went home to be with his Lord on Friday, February 28, 2014. Son of the late Joe A. Dillard and Irene Hodges Dillard, James had served during WWII in the Air Force and was retired from Blue Cross Blue Shield.
In addition to his parents, James is predeceased by brothers Joe Allen Dillard and Mack Dillard, and sisters Sue Dennis and Dina Fallon.
Survivors include his wife of almost 70 years, Viola Spratlin Dillard, daughters Barbara Dillard Easterwood, and Brenda Dillard Owens (David), brother David Dillard (Elaine), sister Mary Helen Surrency, grandchildren Amy Murray Long (Keith) and Jason K. Murray (Tonya), great grandchildren, Joanna Murray, Spencer Murray, Trevor Murray, and Brandon Long.
The family will receive friends Saturday, March 1, from 6-8 at Lord and Stephens East. Funeral service will be held Sunday, March 2, at 3:00 P.M. at Hull Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Crowe and Rev. Jim Jones officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
The family wishes to thank caregivers Jan Hughes and Elizabeth Sutton as well as Gentiva Hospice for all their kindness and compassion.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hull Baptist Church.
Lord and Stephens, East is in charge of arrangements.
