James Elijah Dean

James “Jimmy” Elijah Dean, 73, of Athens peacefully joined our Heavenly Father on Monday, September 5, 2022. The son of the late George and Eloise Dean is survived by his wife of 47 years, Lori, and their sons: Jason (Megan), Justin (Lesley), and Eric (Gabrielle). He is also survived by his sisters Lanelle Faircloth and Emily (William) Edwards, in-laws Donald and Elaine Taylor, grandchildren Taylor, Brooke, Barrett, and Grayson, and many nieces and nephews.

Jimmy grew up in Ashburn, Georgia. A graduate of ABAC and UGA, he lived most of his adult life in Athens where he was a retired state agronomist for the USDA NRCS. Jimmy loved time spent with family. He enjoyed golf, gardening, and camping trips. Jimmy loved the Lord and studying His word.

The family will receive friends Friday, September 9 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at Lord & Stephens, East followed by a celebration of life service at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to make a donation to Shepherd Center www.shepherd.org or an organization close to your heart.
